Short History of Kelestan

as provided by Ardashir Khan

Kelestan has not been pivotal in Babkhan history or culture in quite the way that North Babkha, the Greater Zjandaria or Parestan for example have. Nonetheless Kelestan is not entirely without a past. It is recorded in the mythic histories of Babak Kemal.

Provincial Reform Act 2001 Piruzamin, Kelestan and Schilpalst merged to form the Province of Kelestan. Located in the Alcan Peninsula to the North East of Kamalshahr, the indigenous Kelestanis or Kels as they were also known, made their stock in trade as plundered trading caravans.

The neighbouring Kel Kingdoms of Vayelon, Susd, and Shom, formed the Alliance of Vayelon, with Willith support, and watched closely by the Sultan of Uzbenistan, as the Babkhan expansion threatened the indigenous Euran nations.

The Newly united kingdoms of Kelestan, urged by the Willith Union and with Uzben and Ulzevan military support, attacked Emperaturus a city allied to Babkha. The Kel invasion was repelled by the Babkhans, and in turn, the infuriated monarch in Kamalshahr, Queen Grace ordered the sacking of the three principal Kel cities of Vayelon, Shom and Susd as revenge. Her army ravaged Kelestan.

She was succeeded by Babak II who drowned in a shipwreck off the Chelpian Gulf, while returning to Kamalshahr after visiting the Emperor of Leiland. Hashem II heir to the throne murdered his brothers and sisters in fear of a challenge to his reign and had his father's advisors eyes burned off. The Brutal beginning of Hashem II's throne was to mark the rest of his reign. Taking advantage of a series of provincial revolts against the tyrant there occurred an uprising in Kelestan during Hesam's first year as Shah. This resulted in the massacre of thousands of Kels.

When it became known to the Shah that Willithia had a hand in the Kel uprising, Hashem II prepared to invade the Willith Union. The war proceeded badly for the Kel rebels and Hashem II set about quelling the insurrections that had arisen in the empire having Royal Razjanian Provincial Guards positioned in Mehrestan during the war were sent through Kelestan on there return home to quell the Kel uprisings. Thousands of Kels were killed in Shom, Susd and particularly Vayelon.

Chastised the Kels settled into obedience and gentle parochialism. During this centuries respite of peace Kelestan lost its savage raiding ways and gradually became one of the breeding grounds for intellectual thought. This development led to enlightenment in art, the humanities and science in Kelestan challenged the narrow habits of frightened obedience to the metropolitan capital and this growing maturity led to non-violent demands for political and social liberalisation that prompted Babak Kapav Mehr to issue the first democratic constitution in 2001 Kelestan is a stronghold of the Babkhan Liberal Centre Party.
As befits the reputation established for Kelestan its most famous satrap Jafar Farzani was the former Vizier of Trade and Economics who served under all administrations from 2000-2004, promoting the values of liberalism and national unity as a founder member of the BLCP.
